Mr Carsten Kessler is an industry veteran who celebrates his 28th anniversary in commercial aeronautics in 2018.
He started his career in the Materiel Support Division of European commercial aircraft manufacturer where he successfully led program initiatives in the spares distribution arena like global distribution strategies, value re-engineering, repair cycle time reductions, and others driving customer value and satisfaction improvements.
He was then offered the opportunity to lead a Program Management, Engineering and Customer Support organization for a business that offers passenger-to-freighter conversions for commercial aircraft of European manufacture. Major successes include the complete relocation of the business line, the creation, and certification of a design and customer support organisation aligned with the aircraft manufacturer and most successfully, the reengineering of the program towards from a customised to a standard modular design concept winning back the major customer to launch 2 follow-on programs.
Mr Carsten Kessler continued his aerostructures journey through leading the standard hardware spares distribution for a major US component OEM in the EMEA region before moving on to become President & CEO for a cabin interiors systems house, a start-up operation with 22 shareholders including German Telecom. These last 2 positions offered Carsten exposure to the Middle East, and finally resulted in his affinity and the relocation from Germany to the UAE.
Mr Carsten Kessler joined Mubadala Development Company, an investment vehicle of the government of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in July 2007 as Senior Vice President, Business Development in Mubadala’s Aerospace business unit. In this capacity, Carsten held responsibility for cross-sector business development, led the aerostructures and cabin interiors business sectors for the business unit and was the account manager for major aircraft and defense OEM relationships. He contributed significantly to the foundation and initiation of Mubadala’s composite aerostructures business in the city of Al Ain called Strata Manufacturing PJSC.
From November 2012 to April 2015, Carsten was appointed Chief Commercial Office of Strata and took responsibility for enterprise strategy, customer satisfaction, new business development, work package transfer, program management, technology, and capability development.
Since May 2015, Carsten leverages his broad experience and industry network to offer select consultancy services to international customers in aeronautics and defense focusing on strategic direction, business creation, acquisition, and transformation.
Supporting his affection to general and program management, Carsten holds a degree of Industrial Engineering from the University and Technical University in Hamburg, Germany, his beloved home town. This hybrid degree enabled him linking interdependent technical and commercial aspects to the benefit to his external and internal customers.
Carsten is married to his wife Heike for an amazing 27 years, without kids but 2 cats. They enjoy their several rounds of golfing a week, reading, traveling and quality time with family and friends.
